EvaluationEvaluation

Transit for Livable Communities (TLC) is implementing a measurement plan in coordination with the other pilot communities, the Volpe Center, and the United States Department of Transportation. This plan includes annual bike/walk counts at a minimum of 30 locations in the eligible pilot communities, intercept surveys at locations identified for project-specific measurements, and an effort focusing on public health measures. All project outcomes will be analyzed and presented in the final report to Congress. Additional community-wide results will be collected across the pilot communities under a contract with the Center for Transportation Studies at the University of Minnesota.

The evaluation plan has several key data collection components:

  1. Data Collection Overview
  2. Area-Wide Counts and Surveys
  3. Project-Specific Evaluation

In 2010, we will collaborate with or partners to produce a document for Congress to report on the program findings.

Transit for Livable Communities, working closely with staff at the City of Minneapolis, oversees much of the evaluation effort in the Bike Walk Program. Transit for Livable Communities works with the Volpe Center and the US DOT, who contracts with Alta Planning for assistance as needed.
