Public Meeting: 5th St NE/SE & 22nd Ave NE Bike Boulevards
You are invited to a public meeting to discuss proposed changes to identify bicycle boulevards on 5th Street between 8th Avenue SE and 26th Avenue NE, and 22nd Avenue NE between Marshall Street and Central Avenue.
When: Wednesday, February 10 - 7:00 p.m.
Where: Firefighters' Hall, 664 22nd Avenue NE, Minneapolis
This project is intended to provide a north-south and an east-west route for bicyclists. It will NOT entail parking removal. A bike boulevard provides shared lanes (bikes and cars together) in the middle of the street.
In order to implement the bicycle boulevard, Minneapolis Public Works has developed a layout with several options. The public will be asked to rank preferences for items such as:
• Traffic calming
• Improvements to busy crossings
• Cut thru shortcuts for bikes at existing traffic diverters
The project will also include way finding and route identifier signs, as well as pavement markings.
More Information: Visit www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/bicycles/boulevards.asp or contact Shaun Murphy, Minneapolis Public Works, at 612-333-2450 or shaun.murphy@ci.minneapolis.mn.us. Questions or feedback are welcome.
