A public bike sharing rental system connecting Downtown Minneapolis, Uptown, and the University of Minnesota Campus.

This project will provide an exclusive, direct route for bicyclists and pedestrians from Bridge #9 (allowing access to downtown Minneapolis) to Dinkytown and the University of Minnesota's East Bank, following a railroad corridor that ties directly to the transitway that leads to St. Paul.

The Northeastern Suburban Campus Connector Bike/Pedestrian Project connects the three communities of Falcon Heights, Lauderdale, and Roseville to both the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses of the University of Minnesota. The project consists of the construction of bike and pedestrian facilities to create safer, more pleasant street. The project creates bicycle and pedestrian facilities for all levels of users including commuter and recreational bicyclists, access to local businesses, dining, and retail for pedestrians, and for walkers trying to improve their health.

The University Bike Center will be constructed in a fromer transit waiting area of the University's Oak Street Parking Ramp and will provide repair, retail, secure bike storage, restrooms/changing rooms, trip planning, program space and the RFID benefits system.

In 2007 the City of Minneapolis received funding to start a Bike Walk Ambassador program which in partnership with the Bike Walk Twin Cities and other community partners, encourages people in Minneapolis and neighboring communities to bike and walk more and drive less.
